MS Dhoni Files Lawsuit Against Former Business Associates For ₹15 Crore Fraud

In 2017, Mihir Diwakar entered into a purported agreement with the renowned former Indian cricket team captain, MS Dhoni, with ambitions to establish cricket academies globally under Dhoni’s esteemed name. However, recent events have taken a contentious turn, with Dhoni filing a criminal complaint against his erstwhile business associates.

Dhoni’s legal representative conveyed that the erstwhile captain has instituted legal proceedings against Mihir Diwakar and Soumya Vishwas, both affiliated with Aarka Sports and Management Limited based in Ranchi. This litigation revolves around alleged discrepancies and breaches related to a business contract that was inked in 2017. The core contention is that Diwakar purportedly failed to adhere to the stipulated terms and conditions of their agreement.

The agreement was unequivocal: Aarka Sports was entrusted with the responsibility to establish cricket academies, both domestically in India and internationally, leveraging Dhoni’s iconic status in the cricketing realm. As part of the agreement, the firm was obligated to remit the stipulated franchise fees and share the accrued profits in adherence to the agreed-upon ratios.

However, as the narrative unfolds, it appears that Aarka Sports veered off the agreed path. Allegedly, they commenced establishing these academies clandestinely, circumventing Dhoni’s oversight and withholding the requisite payments due under the agreement.

Compounding the situation, Dhoni’s legal counsel highlighted that the authority granted to Aarka Sports was officially rescinded on August 15, 2021. Yet, despite this revocation, the firm purportedly persisted in forging ahead with its endeavours, setting up cricket academies and sports complexes under Dhoni’s prestigious name. All the while, they purportedly neglected their financial obligations and withheld pertinent information from Dhoni.

From a public perspective, Aarka Sports portrays itself as a stalwart in athlete and player management, accentuated by prominently featuring a grandiose image of MS Dhoni on its website. The narrative further elucidates that Mihir Diwakar occupies a pivotal role as the managing editor within the organization.

Intriguingly, the website also delineates Dhoni’s association with the firm, depicting him in a mentoring capacity, thereby adding another layer of complexity to this intricate legal imbroglio.
