MS Dhoni joining the Parachute Regiment of Territorial Army

It is to be noted since the last few days, the participation of MS Dhoni in the upcoming series remained sceptical. While few speculated that he isn”t any automatic pick anymore, another section of the people was doubting whether “Thala” hanged his boots. However, now we have come to know why he is currently unavailable.

Sources suggest that MS Dhoni has already told the BCCI that he will not be available for a period of two months. He is all set to join the paramilitary regiment of the Indian army where he holds the honorary post of a lieutenant colonel. Dhoni seemed to have made this commitment even before the CWC 2019, say sources. It is worth noting that Dhoni was even asked by the ICC to remove the symbol of “balidan”, that represents his regiment form his gloves.

“Dhoni has made himself unavailable for the tour of West Indies as he will be spending two months with his paramilitary regiment. We would like to say three things. He is not retiring from cricket right now. He is taking a two-month sabbatical to serve his paramilitary regiment which he had committed much earlier”, said a senior official to PTI.

A lot of experts and former cricketers have already shared their views on the inclusion of Dhoni in the Indian side. Players like Sehwag and Gambhir already started saying that the BCCI should invest in the future, then sticking to Dhoni. The primary reason behind such comments being, his lack of intent in a few games of the world tournament.

The selection committee of the BCCI will be meeting on Sunday to announce squads for the all-format tour of West Indies. Reports emerged that the BCCI will be interested in seeing a young and dynamic team for the tour as a part of renovation plans for the 2023 World Cup. It will be interesting to see who will finally get the long waited call – ups.
