MS Dhoni Makes A Cryptic Statement About His Participation In IPL 2022

CSK skipper MS Dhoni has made a big statement about his future in the Indian Premier League (IPL). During the toss time of Match 53 of IPL 2021, Danny Morrison asked MS about his fitness and other CSK players. Danny also added a question about Dhoni’s future with the franchise and whether or not he’ll be available for the next season.

Dhoni stated that his future as a player in the yellow jersey is unclear due to the retention rules in place ahead of the mega auctions for IPL 2022. With the BCCI set to announce the inclusion of two more franchises, bringing the IPL to ten teams in 2022, a mega auction will be conducted to allow all franchises to rebuild their squads.

“Its tough to maintain fitness. The postponement of the IPL always meant there will be more games in short period – no concerns as such personally. Playing with the same XI. Heat is always a factor, we would’ve batted first even if we won the toss. You’ll see me in yellow next season but whether I’ll be playing for CSK you never know. There are a lot of uncertainties coming up, two new teams are coming, we don’t know what the retention rules are and so on,” Dhoni said.

On August 15 of last year, Dhoni announced his retirement from international cricket. During a recent India Cements Function, one of the fans also asked MS that why he chose that specific date. To which he replied:

“It can’t be a better day than that. August 15. When it comes to the farewell, you can come and see me play for CSK, and that can be my farewell game. So you will get the opportunity to bid me farewell. Hopefully, we will come to Chennai and play my last game over there and can meet all the fans”

Meanwhile, CSK have already qualified for the playoffs this season and would be looking to confirm a top 2 finish by winning against the Punjab Kings.
