All eyes will be on the 39-year-old MS Dhoni when he returns to action during the 13th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL). As speculations continue to rife, Chennai Super Kings (CSK) CEO Kasi Viswanathan has assured that Dhoni will play in the IPL until 2022.
Incidentally, Dhoni hasn’t played a single competitive game ever since the 2019 World cup semi-final against NewZealand. He returned to training earlier in March but had to return after the COVID-19 outbreak.

MS Dhoni will mark his comeback to competitive cricket as he will lead Chennai Super Kings franchise for the 11th year in past 13 IPL editions. Recently, he started training at the indoor facility of the Jharkhand Cricket Association Stadium. He will join the training camp in Chennai from August 15 before flying to UAE for IPL 2020.
Meanwhile, speculations are going around MS Dhoni might call time on his career after IPL 2020. However, CSK CEO Kasi Viswanathan said that fans can expect Dhoni to be a part for CSK in 2020, 2021 as well as 2022.
“We don’t worry about him at all. Yes, We can expect MS Dhoni to be part of both (IPL 2020 and 2021) and probably for even the next year. 2022,” Viswanathan told India Today.
Speaking further on MS Dhoni being out of touch, Kasi Vishwanathan stated that MS Dhoni knows his responsibilities and they are losing their sleep over it. While the fans have been speculation over his form, his teammates Suresh Raina and Piyush Chawla said Dhoni is in perfect shape.
“I am getting updates through the media only, saying he has been training in Jharkhand in indoor nets. But we don’t have to worry about the skipper, boss. We don’t worry about him at all. He knows his responsibilities and he will take care of himself and the team,” he added.
Chennai Super Kings, who finished second in IPL 2020, will look to take one step more and lift their fourth IPL title. The much-awaited cash-rich league commences in the UAE from September 19.
