Watch: MS Dhoni Shares Insights with Ashutosh Sharma Post-Match

After the recent IPL 2025 match between Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Delhi Capitals (DC) at Chepauk on April 5, veteran CSK icon MS Dhoni was spotted interacting with young DC batter Ashutosh Sharma in the CSK dressing room.

Despite CSK suffering their third consecutive loss of the season, Dhoni took time out to engage with Ashutosh, who has previously expressed his admiration for the legendary wicketkeeper-batter. The heartwarming moment was later shared by Ashutosh on Instagram, giving fans a sneak peek into the exchange between the two cricketers.

A Special Bond Since IPL 2024

This wasn’t the first time Ashutosh had spoken to Dhoni about batting. Back in IPL 2024, he had received some crucial advice from the former Indian skipper but had kept the specifics private. In an earlier interview, Ashutosh revealed, “Yes, I did talk to him… He told me a lot of things. It’s a secret.” Even though he was dismissed for just 1 run in the recent match—run out by CSK’s Ravindra Jadeja—Ashutosh remains an important figure in DC’s lineup, particularly after his stunning 66-run performance in the season opener against Lucknow Super Giants. His consistent efforts this season have contributed significantly to DC’s unbeaten run.

DC Outclass CSK as Rahul Shines

The match itself saw DC extend their winning streak with a convincing 25-run victory over the struggling CSK side. Batting first, Delhi Capitals posted a competitive total of 183, thanks to KL Rahul’s commanding 77 off 51 balls. Though Ashutosh couldn’t make an impact with the bat this time, the team’s top-order ensured a solid foundation.

On the other hand, CSK, under Ruturaj Gaikwad’s leadership, failed to chase down the target, marking their third loss in a row. Despite the defeat, Dhoni’s gesture of mentoring young talent like Ashutosh highlights his enduring influence on the game and the respect he commands across teams and generations.
