MS Dhoni, once the captain of India and Chennai Super Kings (CSK), is prepping himself for IPL 2025. The tournament kicks off on March 22 with a match against Kolkata Knight Riders and Royal Challengers Bengaluru; the latter two would fight for the title of the reigning champion. In preparation for the upcoming season, Dhoni took swings in nets, hitting big shots in the process.
Going into the 2025 mega auction, CSK held on to MSD by keeping him on board as an uncapped Indian player for INR 4 crore under a rule appointing Indian players as uncapped players if they have not played an international match in the last five years.
It was during this time of retirement in international cricket that Dhoni played his last international in semi-finals, the 2019 ODI World Cup. After international retirement, Dhoni is still an important player in the IPL for CSK.

The return of the 43-year-old to the practice pitch had CSK fans excited, looking forward to seeing their great captain in action once again.
Dhoni is one of the most successful captains in IPL history, having led CSK to five titles, equaling Rohit Sharma’s record of leading Mumbai Indians to as many trophies. He is also the captain with the most IPL appearances, 226. With just a few months left for IPL 2025, eyes will be on Dhoni and CSK as they chase yet another title in their illustrious collection.
