After Chennai Super Kings (CSK) won the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 championship, reports have surfaced claiming that franchise captain MS Dhoni will likely go through a number of tests to determine the extent of his knee injury.

During one of his press conferences, CSK head coach Stephen Fleming acknowledged that Dhoni was dealing with a knee injury. During the IPL 2023, the illustrious keeper-batter was occasionally seen limping. Following Chennai’s final home game in the IPL in 2023, he was seen wearing a kneecap during CSK’s lap of honour at the MA Chidambaram Stadium.

According to RevSportz, who has been cited in a number of reports, CSK captain Dhoni is scheduled to be admitted to the Kokilaben hospital in Mumbai this week for a series of tests related to his knee injury.

By defeating Gujarat Titans (GT) by five wickets in the IPL 2023 championship game on May 29 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, Dhoni-led CSK won their fifth IPL championship. Rain forced the summit match, which was originally slated for Sunday, to be moved to the reserve day.

Following a toss loss in the championship, GT chose to bat first. Sai Sudharsan scored 96 points off of 47 balls to lead the 2022 champions to a 214/4 total. A revised target of 171 in 15 overs was given to CSK as a result of a rain delay. They were able to score on the final ball in an exciting finish.

Will MS Dhoni make a comeback?

The question of whether Dhoni intended to play in the T20 league again the following season was finally answered after CSK’s victory in the IPL 2023. He claimed that everything depended on his physique and level of fitness.

In his remarks during the post-match presentation, MS Dhoni said: “Circumstantially if you see, this is the best time for me to make my retirement announcement. But the amount of love and adoration I have received this year, wherever I have been. The simple thing for me to say, in my opinion, would be “Thank you very much,” but the difficult thing for me would be to work hard for nine months, return, and participate in at least one more IPL season. But the body plays a big role.”

Decision-making would take 6-7 months. It will more closely resemble a gift from my end. The way they have expressed their love and affection compels me to do it, even though it is difficult for me to do. ”
