Team India started their T20 World Cup tournament at the famous Gabba Stadium in Brisbane on Monday (October 17) with their first warm-up match against the hosts Australia. However, India registered a stunning six-run victory as well. Notably, Hardik Panday had an off day as he could only manage two runs in five balls as well.

However, he was surprised by the delivery of Mitchell Starc and he shared the same which was caught on the stump mic as well. It was an outswinger that passed Hardik’s bat and didn’t give him any time to react as well. And, he was heard saying non-striker batter that he had no idea what happened as well.

“Mujhe pata hi nahi chala. Kab aaya, kab beat hua. Pata hi nahi chala” (I had no clue about that delivery),” Hardik Pandya said to his batting partner at the non-striker’s end. Eventually, he got out by Kane Richardson after top-edging a delivery to Tim David at the second slip.

However, KL Rahul and Suryakumar Yadav smashed the fifties and Mohammed Shami’s three-wicket haul in the final over sealed the deal for India as well.

After the win, India captain Rohit Sharma said – “I thought we batted well, towards the end we could have added 10-15 runs more. We always want a set batter to stay till the end, SKY did it, overall a great batting effort with nice bounce, was a pitch where you can trust your shots. You got to be smart with batting on grounds like these. You can’t forget to push the balls into the gaps, scoring 8-9 runs in an over can be quite an effective plan. It was a great practice game for us.”

“There is room for improvement, but I want more consistency from the bowlers. You need to keep things simple and hit the deck hard. Overall a good game for us, they had a decent partnership and that put us under pressure. He (Shami) is coming back after a long time, so we wanted to give him an over. Wanted to give him a challenge and let him bowl the final over, and you saw what he did,” he concluded.
