We often talk about the Indian Premier League being a platform where talent meets opportunity. Over the years players have made a life out of the million-dollar cheques they receive from their IPL contracts. Which is why if a player misses an IPL season for any reason whatsoever it can be a turning point in their career.
This time its Bangladesh seamer Mustafizur Rahman who has lost an opportunity with a franchise this season as he wasn’t granted a No Objection Certificate (NOC) by the Bangladesh Cricket Board.
I may have earned BDT 1 crore had I played the IPL: Mustafizur Rahman
It is known that Mustafzur Rahman was approached by the Kolkata Knight Riders and Mumbai Indians franchise prior to the start of this season as a replacement for their foreign delegates. But since Bangladesh was to play Sri Lanka in a Test series which required them to be quarantined in Sri Lanka for 14 days, they decided not to grant a NOC to Mustafizur Rahman.
“It would have been great to play the Test series. Sri Lanka’s proposal to have us quarantined for 14 days didn’t seem possible for us,” Mustafizur told Cricbuzz.

Mustafizur Rahman is upset for a fact that had he wasn’t granted the NOC, had he been granted he would’ve earned 1 crore Bangladeshi Taka which is quite a huge amount. But he has taken this setback very sporting and hopes that this has happened for his benefit.
“If the BCB knew that the Sri Lanka series would be postponed, they would have given me the NoC for IPL. But whatever happens, happens for the best. I may have earned BDT 1 crore had I played the IPL,” he added.
Incidentally, Bangladesh Cricket Board didn’t grant Mustafizur Rahman a NOC for playing in the Pakistan Super League as well. For which they compensated him with BDT Taka 30 Lakh. But again an IPL is a lucrative contract which is a big loss for the left-arm seamer.
