Sri Lankan batsman Dinesh Chandimal has written a letter to Sri Lanka Cricket expressing his disappointment with the selection committee. Reports suggest that the letter is addressed to Aravinda de Silva – the former cricketer and current chairman of the SLC selection committee.

Chandimal wrote that he has been subjected to unfair treatment by the selectors. He stated that his ethical standard towards Sri Lankan cricket has always been of the highest caliber.

“Going beyond my player statistics, my compliance towards health and fitness and my ethical standard towards the SLC have been of the highest caliber. I have always demonstrated outstanding team player skills. In my career, every decision I have made was always by putting my country and team first, sometimes with dire consequences for me personally,”

Dinesh Chandimal also added that he never got the backing and trust of the selection committee, that is needed for a player to perform well. “As a past cricketer, you would understand that selection consistency and the selectors’ trust in players is a must to perform on the field.”
