The 2011 World Cup coach of the Indian Cricket Team, Gary Kirsten has been appointed as Pakistan’s One-day international and T20I squad. He is expected to take a coaching stint from 4 T20I matches in England from 22nd May and finish on 30th.

Pakistan struggled with their white-ball team as they could not qualify for the finals of Asia Cup 2023. They failed to qualify for the semi-finals of the ICC World Cup 2023 played in India.

Kirsten had successful coaching with the Indian team and South Africa. Under the coaching of South African legend, South Africa became the number-ranked test team. Pakistan will look to start fresh under the coaching of Kirsten.

“It’s a tremendous honor to be entrusted with the responsibility of coaching the Pakistan men’s national team in white-ball cricket and to rejoin the international cricket arena after some time. I eagerly anticipate this opportunity and aim to contribute positively to the Pakistan men’s national team in limited-overs cricket,” he added.

“Kirsten’s strategy focuses on prioritizing continuity in team selections, aiming to create a stable and consistent environment that allows players to perform at their best. He believes that maintaining a cohesive unit and building strong team dynamics are essential for the team’s success in international competitions,” he again stated.

Pakistan

“One of the beautiful aspects of cricket is its universality. Across cultures, there’s a shared understanding when we discuss the game. My goal is to unite the Pakistan men’s white-ball team, harnessing their considerable talents towards a common objective, and achieving success together on the field,” he concluded.

Kirsten has been appointed as Pakistan’s white ball coach for two years. Pakistan was without a coach after Bradburn and Mickey Arthur left the job.

ICC Events Coming Up For Pakistan

Pakistan will take part in the ICC T20 World Cup 2024 to be played in West Indies and USA. They have been clubbed with India, Ireland, Canada, and the USA. After this tournament, Pakistan will host the Champions Trophy that will take place next year.

Gary Kirsten would be hoping that Pakistan could be one of the major events and lead to their glory once again.
