Former England skipper Nasser Hussain has reacted after Joe Root’s men lost the Test series against India 3-1. They won the first Test but lost the next three to bow out of the World Test Championship race. Meanwhile, India, better equipped with the given conditions have thoroughly outplayed their opposition in the series. Indian fightback was no less than memorable with all the team members putting their hand up at different phases of the series. India thus have made the World Test Championship finals topping the points table as well as the ICC rankings.

Nesser Hussain has said that the England team should not involve in the blame game after the series loss against India. In his column for Daily Mail, Hussain has asked the players to take responsibility for the defeat and not give any excuses.

Players Have To Take Responsibility: Nasser Hussain

“The point I’m trying to make is that I feel at the end of this series that we’re going to give our cricketers a lot of excuses – ‘it’s county cricket’, ‘it’s rotation’, ‘it’s the pitch’, ‘it’s playing in India’ – players have to take responsibility, they’re the ones who win or lose Test matches,” Hussain wrote in his column.

He added, “India have just completely outplayed them, out-batted and definitely out-spun them; their spinners have been in a different league.” Apart from him, the likes of Michael Vaughan and Shoaib Akhtar have also criticised England’s timid approach and their surrender to India without even putting up a brave fight in the last three Tests.

England will now look forward to the five-match T20I series which will be played in Ahmedabad with the first game on March 12. All the games will be held at the Narendra Modi Cricket Stadium, Ahmedabad before Pune will host the three ODIs. They are topping the rankings at the moment, while India are placed at three.
