Australian spinner Nathan Lyon who is closing in on 400 Test wickets said that the Indian batsmen will look to attack him in the second test. He also believed that they will produce a better batting performance in the second test and bowling them out cheaply once again will be difficult. Lyon spoke to the reporters ahead of the second test and highlighted his team’s preparations for the Melbourne test which starts fro December 26.

Speaking to the reporters, Nathan Lyon said that he is expecting the Indian batsmen to put their Adelaide loss behind and come out attacking in the second test. He further said that bowling them out inside 50 runs is not something that he is thinking of again.

“I don’t think it will be that difficult. You look at the quality of players in the Indian side and they have got some absolutely world-class players throughout the whole squad,” Lyon told reporters on Wednesday.

“We’re expecting them to come out firing and not have any scars from the other day. Cricket’s a new day, new game every time. I know we can’t expect to go and bowl them out for 50 again so we have to make sure we’re preparing well.”

Nathan Lyon further said that the Indian batsmen will look to attack him which they did not do in the first encounter. The veteran off-spinner only managed to pick one wicket in the first innings that of Cheteshwar Pujara.

“India will try and attack me again. I think it’s one of their tactics to come after me, which is totally fine, I’m pretty used to it. It’s up to me to know when to attack and when to defend as well. It’s all fun and part of cricket, especially when you’re a little spin bowler” he added.

Nathan Lyon went largely unnoticed in the first test after exploits from Josh Hazlewood and Pat Cummins. It was in his over that Indian skipper Virat Kohli was dismissed. He took the key wicket of Cheteshwar Pujara in the first innings.

Lyon concluded by saying that the second Test will be a challenging one for his team given that India will come into it well prepared as well.

“It is going to be a big challenge for us again and we will start our preparation really well and make sure we are prepared to take on India again on (the) Boxing Day, it is going to be another big challenge for us,” said Lyon.
