“Needless Rumours Are Going To Be Spread”- Virat Kohli’s Absence From Press Conference Leaves Mohammad Azharuddin Unimpressed

Virat Kohli

Indian skipper Virat Kohli chose not to attend the post-match press conference after India’s 8-wicket defeat against New Zealand on Sunday. Former India captain and batsman Mohammad Azharuddin was not pleased with Kohli’s decision to skip the press conference.

He said that winning and losing is part of the game. but being the captain of the side, it was Virat Kohli’s responsibility to answer the questions of the media. “There is no shame in losing. But you need to come and speak up. That is the right thing to do. People will listen to you and at least get to know the reason behind the loss.”, Azharuddin said.

Virat Kohli should be noted that India’s lead pacer Jasprit Bumrah attended the press conference instead of Virat, after the match.  “There is a difference between Bumrah speaking or a coach/captain speaking. It is important to face the public. You will have to face the nation and come and speak.”, Azharuddin added.

Azharuddin also pointed that if the skipper is absent from the presser, then more unnecessary rumours about the team will circulate in the media. “If you don’t come, what will people think? Needless rumours are going to be spread.”, said Azharuddin on ABP News.

We try to adapt but bubble fatigue and mental fatigue  creeps in- Jasprit Bumrah

Meanwhile, during his press conference, Jasprit Bumrah discussed the Bio-Bubble fatigue that cricketers experience during COVID times. Because there are so many tournaments/series going on, it hasn’t been easy for the players to go from one bubble to another. The IPL 2021 final and India’s first warm-up game for the T20 World Cup 2021 were separated by only three days. Over time, playing on such a tight schedule does take a toll on cricketers’ mental well-being.

“We try to adapt but bubble fatigue and mental fatigue also creeps in. You are doing the same thing again and again. It is the way it is, and you can’t control a lot of things over here,” Bumrah stated.
