Nepal vs WI A: Nepal Lose Third Match To West Indies

The Nepal Cricket Team suffered a massive loss in the 3rd T20I match against West Indies at Kiritpur on 1st May 2024. Ahead of the T20 World Cup 2024, Nepal decided to experiment with their playing XI as 7 of them did not feature in the playing XI.

Stand-in captain Dipendra Singh Airee captained today replacing Rohit Paudel. Lokesh Bham opened the innings along with Binod Bhandari. Binod Bhandari replaced Kushal Bhurtel in the 3rd T20I. Aarif Sheikh came at number 4 replacing Nepal captain Rohit Paudel in today’s match.

Gulshan Jha came at number 6 during today’s match also like he did in the 2nd T20I. Bibek Yadav replaced Aarif Sheikh in number 7th position.

Dipendra Singh Airee came at number 8th as a captain. Karan KC came as a replacement for Sompal Kami in today’s encounter. Kamal Airee was included in the playing XI replacing Akash Chand. Sagar Dhakal was included in the 2nd T20I and also played in the 3rd T20I match.

How the 3rd T20I match panned out

West Indies captain Roston Chase won the toss and decided to bat first. Alick Athanaze was run out in a mix-up. Johnson Charles showed intent right from the word go putting pressure on the Nepal bowling with positive intent not allowing them to settle.

West Indies ended the first six overs in a commanding position at 71 for 1. Charles and Flecther kept the momentum going for the visitors keeping the momentum going. Charles reached fifty off 24 balls while Flecther also completed a half-century off 30 balls.

Charles and Flecther added 145 runs for the 2nd wicket. Charles just showed his aggressive style of play scoring a century off 55 balls. It was a brilliant batting display by Charles remaining not out on 119 off 61 deliveries with 13 boundaries and 7 sixes. West Indies posted a massive total of 227 for 3. Fabien Allen and Keemo Paul played cameos that helped them to lead them to a great total. For Nepal, Karan KC took 1 for 54 and Sagar Dhakal took 1 for 41.

Chasing 228 runs to win, none of Nepal’s batters were able to score big runs as they were bundled out for 151 in 19.2 overs. Karan KC made 28 off 17 balls while Lokesh Bham made 28 off 29 deliveries.
