The Board of Control for Cricket in India has appointed Rohit Sharma as the Captain of the Indian ODI & T20I teams. He will take over the reins from Virat Kohli and his journey will start with the three-match ODI series against South Africa in January 2022.
“The All-India Senior Selection Committee also decided to name Mr. Rohit Sharma as the Captain of the ODI & T20I teams going forward,” the BCCI has tweeted on Thursday.

Meanwhile, Rohit Sharma has recently led India in the T20I series against New Zealand at home after the T20 World Cup. Kohli, on the other hand, had expressed his wish to continue leading the ODI team until the 2023 World Cup in India. He has 51 wins from 78 ODIs as well. Under him, India played in the final of the 2017 Champions Trophy and the semifinal of the 2019 World Cup, but failed to win an ICC title.
