Former New Zealand all-rounder Jacob Oram has been named the senior men’s cricket team of the Black Caps’ new bowling coach. After Shane Jurgensen left in November 2023, he will take over in that role. On October 7, right before the much awaited Test series against India, Oram will start his new role.

With this appointment, Oram’s coaching career reaches a major turning point, and he will be in charge of leading the Black Caps’ bowling attack.

Oram’s extensive background as a player and coach makes him a strong candidate to guide the group to victory. The India Test series, which looks to be an exciting competition, will be his first task.

Fans will be closely observing Oram’s influence on the Black Caps‘ performance as the squad looks to get off to a fast start under his leadership.

“I hope that I can share my knowledge and experience.”- Jacob Oram

Jacob Oram, a former all-rounder, has been appointed as the senior men’s cricket team of the Black Caps’ bowling coach. He has taken up the position left vacant by Shane Jurgensen’s departure in November this year. Oram would formally assume leadership on October 7 ahead of the Indian Test Series.

“I’m really excited to have the opportunity to be involved with the Black Caps again. To be back involved with a team that means so much to me and has been a big part of my life is a real honour. The recent opportunities I’ve had have been a great insight into where this team is going and I’m excited to continue that work in the coming seasons” Jacob Oram said.

“There’s a fresh new wave of talent coming through in the Black Caps bowling ranks and I hope that I can share my knowledge and experience to help best prepare them for the challenges of international cricket,” Jacob Oram added.

In his eleven year long playing career, Oram wanted to share experience with budding bowlers so that they could be ready for international level cricket. He represented New Zealand taking part in total of 36 T20Is, 160 ODIs and 33 Tests.
