New Zealand Cricket to retire jerseys for players more than 200 ODI caps

New Zealand cricket has now announced that it will officially retire the jerseys of kiwis who represented more than 200 ODI”s. This would mean that the existing team will not be able to replicate the same number going ahead.

The announcement has been done in their official twitter handle while revealing the test jersey numbers of the entire squad. The kiwis will kickstart their ICC test championship in a week”s time against Srilankans.

Daniel Vettori – A Kiwi legend

With this announcement, the jersey of Daniel Vettori can”t be used by anyone. Vettori has been one of the finest all-rounders produced by the country in the last two decades.

He retired from Internationals right after the 2015 WC and is currently involved in coaching stints across the globe. He played for the kiwis in more than 291 ODI”s picking up 305 scalps.

The announcement would mean that the number 11 jersey of Vettori is now officially unavailable for the players.

The kiwis will be looking to start their stint on a winning note after the world cup heartbreak. The first test commences on August 14th at Galle. Prior to the test, a 3-day practice game will be played against Board Presidents XI starting August 8th.
