New Zealand’s New Age Seamer Kyle Jamieson All Set For An IPL Stint?

Kyle Jamieson

The Test series between New Zealand and Pakistan might have been a short one but one particular paceman has managed to maximise his presence by some quality spells in the Two match Test Series. Yes, we’re talking about the latest addition to the pace battery Kyle Jamieson, who has by far been New Zealand’s most impactful bowler in the recently concluded Test series between the two nations.

Kyle Jamieson debuted against India during their tour to New Zealand in 2020 where he finished with 9 wickets in two games. So far, Jamieson has not just shown his bowling skills but also displayed his phenomenal batting skills. In today’s world where we hardly expect any frontline bowler to be a top-notch batsman for the side, Jamieson has faired decently with the willow in his hand. In the six Test matches the fast bowler has played, he averages an impressive 56.50 after scoring 226 which includes one fifty.

Kyle Jamison Finished With 16 Wickets In The Test Series vs Pakistan

In the recently concluded Test series against Pakistan, Kyle Jamieson was going in and around the social media for the kind of performance he was putting in against the Asian visitors. In just four innings, Kyle Jamieson picked more wickets than the combined efforts of Pakistan’s top three frontline seamers.

Pakistan’s pace trio of Shaheen Afridi, Mohammed Abbas, and Naseem Shah managed to pick up just 14 wickets among them whilst Kyle Jamieson alone picked up 16 wickets in just four innings. The tally wasn’t even near Trent Boult and Tim Southee as the two frontline pacers picked up 9 and 6 wickets respectively in two innings.

Now with the impact, Kyle Jamieson has caused in the pocket-sized career, there is a possibility that IPL franchises might just be interested in acquiring the services of the latest revelation in New Zealand’s pace armoury. With nearly five New Zealanders being a part of the IPL franchises coaching setup, it is highly likely that Kyle Jamieson will be on the radars of multiple IPL franchises.
