As Team India struggle to get Australian openers – David Warner and Aaron Finch out cheaply, KL Rahul has jokingly said that ‘it will be nice if he gets injured for a long time.’ Incidentally, the hosts thrashed Virat Kohli & Co by 51 runs in the second ODI to pocket the ODI series with one match to go.

Warner limped off in the fourth over of the second innings having tumbled in the field to save a single from the bat of India opener Shikhar Dhawan. The swashbuckling batsman looked in immense pain as he clutched his groin as he got to his feet while the team’s physio sprinted onto the field.

David Warner immediately walked off the field immediately and was seen limping. A Cricket Australia spokesperson confirmed Warner had suffered an adductor injury and been sent to get X-rays and now he will miss the remaining white-ball games.

The southpaw, who scored 69 and 83 in the two consecutive matches, now has returned home for his rehab in a bid to achieve fitness for the first Test starting December 17. Speaking at the end of the game, KL Rahul jokingly said it will be nice if he gets injured for a long time as Indian bowlers struggle continues against David Warner and Aaron Finch.

“It will be nice if he gets injured for a long time. I would not wish that for any player but he is their main batsman, it will be good for our team,” KL Rahul said.

Along with David Warner, Pat Cummins will take a break to remain fresh for the much-awaited Test series. Incidentally, Cummins has played non-stop cricket through Australia’s UK tour in August-September, the Indian Premier League in the UAE and the first two ODIs back home.

The third and the final ODI of the series will take place on December 1 at the Manuka Oval in Canberra.
