Nicholas Pooran’s Explosive Batting Dismantles The Opposition In CPL 2024

Nicholas Pooran’s explosive performance was on full display in the 25th match of the Caribbean Premier League 2024, where he played a crucial role in securing a seven-wicket win for Trinbago Knight Riders (TKR) against St Kitts and Nevis Patriots.

Batting first, the Patriots posted a challenging total of 193/4 in their allotted 20 overs. In response, TKR comfortably chased down the target, reaching 197/3 in 18.3 overs, thanks to Pooran’s unbeaten 93 off just 43 balls. His outstanding innings earned him the Player of the Match award.

St Kitts and Nevis Patriots struggled early after being sent in to bat, losing Evin Lewis for just 2 runs in the opening over. However, Kyle Mayers and captain Andre Fletcher steadied the innings with a 99-run partnership for the second wicket. Mayers was in fine form, smashing 60 off 30 balls, including eight fours and three sixes.

Fletcher anchored the innings, finishing with 93 off 61 balls, hitting four fours and six sixes before being dismissed on the final ball. Contributions from Riley Russo (20 off 11) helped the Patriots to a competitive total. For TKR, Chris Jordan was the standout bowler, taking two wickets, while Akeel Hossain and Jaydan Seales chipped in with one wicket each.

In their chase, Trinbago Knight Riders started well, with Jason Roy providing a solid foundation. Roy and Keesy Carty shared a 43-run opening stand before Carty was dismissed for 13 in the sixth over. Roy continued his aggressive play, completing his half-century and eventually scoring 64 off 34 balls, hitting six fours and four sixes.

After the fall of Tim David for 9, Pooran took charge, partnering with captain Kieron Pollard (10*) to seal the win. Pooran’s explosive knock of 93 not out, featuring six fours and seven sixes, saw TKR over the line with ease.

This win elevated TKR to fourth place in the points table with 10 points from seven matches, while the Patriots remained at the bottom, managing just two points from 10 games.
