The first ODI between India and Australia kick off the much-awaited series between the two teams. Aaron Finch’s Australia will eye for a revenge of their ODI and Test series loss to the Indians the last time round.

Besides India’s historic 2-1 triumph in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy during their tour in 2018-19, India also secured the ODI series 2-1 and drew the T20Is 1-1. This time around, Australian limited-overs Finch will look to rewrite the script.

Finch recently played with Virat Kohli at the RCB in IPL 2020. This was Finch’s first year with the franchise and unfortunately not a good one. Meanwhile, ahead of the first ODI, Aaron Finch has praised the Indian skipper Virat Kohli. Finch said Kohli is probably the ‘best one-day player of all time’.

“If you look at his record it’s second to none. “It really is remarkable. I think what we have to keep in mind is that we have to keep looking to get him out,” Finch said ahead of the first ODI.

No Chinks In Kohli’s Armour: Aaron Finch

Aaron Finch further said that there is no chink in Kohli’s armour and that they will look to get him out early. The Indian skipper is eyeing major records in the ODI series.

“When you go away from that and you look to contain players you can miss a trick there. There’s not too many chinks in his armour. He’s probably the best one-day player of all time so it’s about sticking to our plans and being really committed in that regard,” Aaron Finch said.

One area where Australia have the advantage over their opponents is the all-rounders. Glenn Maxwell, Marcus Stoinis, Mitchell Marsh gives their team plenty of options. While for India Hardik Pandya is still having trouble with his injury which might not allow him to bowl in the series.

This leaves Ravindra Jadeja as the only specialised all-rounder for India.

“In England we had the three allrounders with Mitch (Marsh) so you can dissect the 10 overs a little bit easier, I guess. You’re still expecting when that fifth bowler is, or the combination of allrounders are, bowling that minimum 10 overs that they’re still having an impact on the game. It’s not about picking allrounders just for the sake of it, it’s also a key bowling spot as well,” concluded the Australian skipper.
