The match that went down to the last ball was a demonstration of Biratnagar’s poise under fire, who in the end, managed to corner the target with very little mistake in a contest that had gone the distance.
Karnali’s total of 161 runs was a tough target, but Biratnagar’s batsmen showed great strength and took calculated risks throughout their innings. They got to the target with just one ball left and three wickets still in hand, showing the intense nature of the match and the swinging of the momentum. The small victory margin tested both teams’ spirits, where Biratnagar finally won in this nail-biting thriller that had the crowd captivated till the last moments.
Biratnagar Kings surpassed the target with 1 ball remaining
Biratnagar completed the chase of Karnali’s target of 161 runs while there was just one ball left to play and three wickets still in hand. The player-of-the-match Basir Ahamad played a very crucial role in the chase with a not out score of 62 off 43 balls getting his team home. Narayan Joshi was the one who gave vital help with a fast 25 off 16 balls, meanwhile, Sahil Patel and Sam Heazlett scored 19 and 16 runs respectively. Biratnagar’s innings was along with 25 extras which included 9 byes, 6 leg byes, 5 wides, and 1 no-ball. Sompal Kami and Gulshan Jha took two wickets each for Karnali.
Karnali, on the other hand, after winning the toss, decided to bat first, and thereby scored a competitive total of 160 runs for the loss of 3 wickets in the 20 overs. Among the starters, Priyank Panchal was the highest scorer with 63 runs off 47 balls, while William Bosisto made a little less than half of that contributing 48 runs. Gulshan Jha was the one who brought some excitement in the last moments of the innings with his quickfire 20 scored off 10 balls. Biratnagar bowlers, Captain Sandeep Lamichhane and Marchant de Lange, shared the wickets as each took one.
This win has brought Biratnagar Kings to a place of 2nd on the points table with 8 points from 5 matches, just behind the unbeaten Sudurpaschim Royals team.
