The South Africa Cricket Board added the 8th uncapped player Edward Moore for the two Test match series against New Zealand to be played from 4th February at Bay Oval, Mount Maunganui while the second match will be played 13th February at Seddon Park, Hamilton.

South Africa named an inexperienced squad for the two Test match series as their key players are currently in the South Africa T20 league. Edward Moore is the eighth uncapped player for the Test series against New Zealand.

These two test matches are a part of the 2023- 25 ICC Test championship cycle. South Africa has won 1 match and lost 1 match in 2 match Test series at home. Proteas won the first test by an innings and 32 at Centurion but lost the 2nd encounter at Cape Town by 7 wickets.

Moore has an excellent first-class record with 7743 runs from 117 matches with 17 centuries at an average of 40.96. He scored 414 runs from 5 matches in the current 4-day matches of the Division 1 season.

“Our hand has been forced. Everybody understands the SA20 has to happen. SA20 has to happen because it is the lifeblood of South African cricket. If it doesn’t happen, we are not going to have Test cricket anyway. We’ve got to find a way to coexist with the league, we’ve got to co-exist with leagues around the world to ensure the sustainability of the game.”
