ODI World Cup 2023: Kolkata Police Commissioner Assures Maximum Security For Pakistan Team At Eden Gardens Matches

Kolkata, India’s cricketing center, made an uncommon appeal to the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). The city, known for its fervent cricket enthusiasts, requested a change in the schedule of a crucial World Cup match between Pakistan and England, initially slated for November 12th.

This appeal arose because the date coincides with Kali Puja, the second-largest festival in West Bengal after the grand celebration of Durga Puja. Despite these fascinating changes, the city’s dedicated law enforcement is preparing to guarantee the safety and protection of all participating teams.

Kolkata Police Commissioner Vineet Goyal provided assurance to the cricket community by expressing their commitment to innovate and provide top-level security for the Pakistan team during their visit.

“We will think differently to provide proper security for the Pakistan team,” said Kolkata Police Commissioner.

“We have been managing successfully for years. So, this time we will organize everything in the same way. There will be no problem.”

“We will think differently to provide proper security for the Pakistan team also, and that will be decided as the time comes nearer,” the commissioner asserted as reported by India Today.

Commissioner Goyal stressed their dedication to “effective law enforcement” during match days, assuring that every detail, such as maintaining law and order, overseeing the match, and providing security, will be handled with great attention.

“We are looking after all aspects, including law and order, match management, and security. We are carrying out many things prior to that,” the commissioner added.

Crucial World Cup fixtures scheduled for Eden Gardens, Kolkata

The Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB), which is hosting five significant World Cup matches, including the semi-finals, has held talks with the Kolkata Police.

They’ve been given permission to organize four important group-stage matches involving powerhouse teams such as India, England, Pakistan, and Bangladesh.

In a surprising development, a warm-up match between Pakistan and New Zealand on September 29th at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad will be played without spectators.
