Umran Malik has set IPL on fire with his raw pace. Umran has impressed many people with his pace while playing for SRH. Umran has the rare ability to consistently bowl around the 150kmph mark. Ravi Shastri has already called Umran Malik a player to look forward to in the future.

And now 1983 WC winning captain Kapil Dev also shared his opinion on the rise of Umran Malik. Kapil Dev said that it’s heartening to see Indian pacers bowling at a good pace. But Kapil Dev believes that consistent pace with good discipline is more important than express pace.

Umran has bowled around 60 deliveries at a speed of 145+ kph in IPL 2022. But Kapil Dev also wants him to adopt consistency in his bowling too rather than just focusing on express pace. Kapil Dev said that good speed with accuracy and discipline are the two most important things to become a great fast bowler.

“Pace is not so important. Consistent bowling with good pace is more important. Doing it in an OK match but doing it regularly within 15-20 matches is more important. It’s a great achievement. India didn’t have pace bowlers earlier but we are now competing with the world thanks to the IPL”, Kapil Dev told reporters at Karnavati University, a private university in Gandhinagar.

“The Indian cricket board has placed a lot of importance on the infrastructure. This has been hugely beneficial to the young cricketers. The board has given facilities to players.”, said Kapil Dev.

Kapil Dev also spoke about the emergence of new players in IPL 2022. Kapil Dev was highly impressed with young talents like Tilak Verma, Ayush Badoni, Vaibhav Arora, and Jitesh Sharma. Kapil Dev believes that IPL has come a long way and we are witnessing so many young talents trying to create their impact in IPL.

Kapil Dev appreciated the efforts of the BCCI in nurturing new talent every year. “The Indian Cricket Board has placed a lot of emphasis on infrastructure. This was very beneficial for the young cricketers. The board has provided facilities for the players,” added Kapil Dev in his speech.
