Former Pakistani skipper Misbah-ul-Haq has been appointed as the head coach of the national side. Additionally, he will also be the chief selector for the Pakistan Cricket Board.
The PCB has announced its termination of contracts with Mickey Arthur and others after a poor world cup outing. Dean Jones, Misbah-ul-Haq and several others applied for the positions of the head coach.
After a series of interviews, Misbah has now been given a dual role.
An excited Misbah said “It is very humbling for me to join a select group of some of the very best to have coached the Pakistan national sides in the past. It is an honor and more than that, a massive responsibility as we live and breathe cricket.”
Misbah said that he will be primarily focussing on a change in team culture that hasn”t been up to the mark in recent times.
It will be interesting how Misbah will now handle both the roles and make a roadmap for the team.
Waqar Younis -The bowling coach
Former skipper Waqar Younis has now been appointed as the bowling coach for the side. It is worth noting that he was in and out of the role for over a decade. As of now, both have been given a contract for three years.
Speaking on Waqar”s appointment, Misbah said: “Both Waqar and I had a candid and frank discussion and we discussed and agreed on a number of things, including roles and responsibilities as well as how to take things forward.“
On the other hand, the first coaching stint of the duo commences with the home series against Sri Lanka.
