“Papa Gaali De Rahe The”- Arshdeep Singh Shares Funny Dressing Room Story

Thursday turned out to be a crucial day for India in the T20 World Cup 2026, as their chances of reaching the semi-finals improved significantly. At the beginning of the day, India’s qualification depended on two important results. First, they needed South Africa to defeat West Indies in their Super 8 encounter. Second, India had to win their own match against Zimbabwe. Fortunately for the Men in Blue, both outcomes went in their favour.

India were closely monitoring the South Africa vs West Indies clash because of the net run rate factor. West Indies had a much better net run rate than India, which meant that a victory for them would have made India’s path to the semi-finals extremely difficult. Despite having lost to South Africa earlier in the tournament, Indian players and fans found themselves supporting the Proteas, as their victory was essential for India’s hopes to stay alive.

Arshdeep Shares Dressing Room Drama

India pacer Arshdeep Singh later revealed an interesting and emotional moment from that tense evening. He shared how his family, especially his father, reacted passionately while watching the match. “We didn’t watch the whole thing, but it was certainly a see-saw affair. My family was in the room and when the West Indies batters smashed a six, papa gaali de rahe the ki, ‘Kya kar rahe hain?’” Arshdeep said while speaking to reporters.

The fast bowler explained that every boundary hit by West Indies increased the tension, as it could damage India’s chances. However, Arshdeep tried to calm his father during the heated moments. “So I was like, ‘It’s okay, don’t be angry and just enjoy the match and hope South Africa win and we also win our remaining matches,’” he added. His words reflected a composed approach, reminding everyone to stay positive and focus on what India could control.

Virtual Quarter-Final Awaits India

In the end, South Africa dominated West Indies by chasing down the target of 177 in just 16.1 overs. Soon after, India delivered a strong performance against Zimbabwe, winning the match by 72 runs. These two results completely changed the scenario in India’s favour.

Now, the upcoming clash between India and West Indies in Kolkata on March 1 has turned into a virtual quarter-final. The stakes are simple and clear — the winner of this high-pressure contest will secure a place in the semi-finals of the T20 World Cup 2026.
