Parthiv Patel Terms Adelaide Loss As India’s Most Shameful Performance

Former India player Parthiv Patel has come down hard on the Indian team’s dreadful performance against Australia in the first test at Adelaide. Indian batsman stumbled from 9/1 at the end of day 2 to 36/9 in under 12 overs in the first session of day 3. Aussie Pacers Josh Hazlewood and Pat Cummins rattled through the Indian top-order as all Indian batsman struggled to artistic bowling show by the bowlers.

It’s a sort of performance no team would expect from the Virat Kohli led side as they ended up registering their lowest total in the test history. Not a single batsman in the Indian batting group could bottle up double figures, the last time a single-player failed to score in double digits for a side was way back in 1924 which is almost 96 years ago.

This was India’s most shameful performance: Parthiv Patel

During the show ‘Cricbuzz Chatter’, Parthiv Patel came down hard at the Indian side for their disastrous batting show at the Adelaide Oval which resulted in a pounding defeat after giving Australia a target of mere 90 runs with over 9 sessions to go in the test. Parthiv Patel was critical of the Indian batsman even though one would say the Aussie bowlers bowled exceptionally well but a total of 36 in not justifiable on any given circumstances.

“India had batted well in the first innings. Posting 250 runs on this tough wicket was a good effort. India bowled well as well in the first innings. But there is no excuse to get all out for 36. We will say that this player bowled sensationally well or he bowled a superb spell. Even then how would you justify a total of 36?” Parthiv Patel said.

Former Gujarat captain Parthiv Patel further termed India’s dismal performance as ‘India’s most shameful performance’ in the recent past. He feels obviously felt no one can give an explanation for it as some of the other batsmen had to step up and do the scoring which unfortunately didn’t happen.

“This score of is India’s lowest total in a Test inning, and their previous lowest of 43 was in 1974, it was a long time ago. This, I would say, is India’s most shameful performance. Even if you try to criticize it, or analyse it, you cannot give an explanation for this. Someone needed to put their hands down, and raised their hands and continued to bat,” Parthiv signed off.
