Australia speedster and Test captain Pat Cummins will be available for the 3rd Ashes Test match that will begin at Melbourne from 26th December 2021. The veteran speedster did not take part in the second Ashes Test match after he had come in contact with a COVID-19 positive person on the eve of the second Test as well.

However, Cummins is now in Sydney and will be in isolation too. And, Cricket Australia (CA) has stated that he has tested negative for the global pandemic novel COVID-19, and he is now allowed to interact with his family members also.

However, Pat Cummins has been advised not to go to populated areas. Cricket Australia (CA) also added that the pacer can now train and work on his fitness before the 3rd Test match as well.

“Cummins, who has tested negative to the virus, can mix with family but only in small groups while being urged to avoid any highly populated location, particularly indoors. But being able to train and do fitness work is a bonus for the fast bowler who would have been contained to a hotel room for seven days had he remained in Adelaide,” read a statement on cricket.com.au.

However, Pat Cummins has been granted permission to travel back home by the health officials of South Australia as well. The veteran pace bowler will take a chartered flight while maintaining all Covid-19 rules and reach home as well.

“Pat Cummins has been granted approval by SA Health to return home to NSW. Under the plan approved by SA Health, he will self-drive from isolation and then, with the appropriate PPE and hygiene controls, take a single charter flight,” further read the statement from Cricket Australia.

Australia are currently 1-0 up in the Ashes Test series, after registering a thumping win by 9 wickets against England at The Gabba in the first Test as well.
