The 21-year-old Indian looked like he belonged on the big stage as he played the quality bowling attack of Australia with ease.

Gill who replaced Prithvi Shaw in the boxing day Test scored 45 runs in the first innings and remained unbeaten on 35 in the second. Those who saw Gill bat was all praises for the young man and rated him as the best young batsman in the world.

Shubman Gill is a calm character- Pat Cummins

Cummins spoke about his IPL teammate Gill and asserted that he bats aggressively and wants to take the game to the opposition. Gill batted with an impressive strike rate in both his knocks and showed that he can bat with intent against the new ball.

“Shuby (Shubman Gill) looked good in his first Test. He is quite a calm character. Looks like, similar way he wants to play wants to take the game on, which as a bowler provides opportunities, some days it will come off, some days it won’t”, Cummins said.

Meanwhile, Cummins was not surprised with the way India made a comeback at MCG and went on to win a historic Test. Nobody gave India a chance after they were all-out for 36 in the first Test at Adelaide. However even it the absence of Virat Kohli and Mohammed Shami the team showed real character and bounced back to level the series 1-1.

Furthermore, after the loss at MCG, Australia is expected to make some changes in their playing XI for the next Test. The third Test between Australia and India will be played at Sydney from January 7.
