People Forget Kohli Is Only Human And Not A Machine: Virat Kohli’s Childhood Coach

Kohli human not machine

Ever since Royal Challengers Bangalore’s gruelling loss against Kings XI Punjab, Virat Kohli has copped up a lot of criticism. At first, he dropped two important catches of the well-set KL Rahul in the first innings and then, later on, he came in to bat at 4 instead of his coveted number three position. Both of which backfired as KL Rahul went on to score the highest score by an Indian batsman in the history of the IPL.

In the end, RCB lost by a margin of close to 97 runs as KXIP made a winning comeback into the game after suffering a loss in the first game against Kings XI Punjab.

People forget Kohli is only human and not a machine

Virat Kohli’s childhood coach has now come in support of the RCB skipper.  He says that dropping catches is part and parcel of the game as you have good days and bad days while playing the sport. Since Kohli has set a benchmark of extraordinary performances, people make a big fuss when he fails on a particular day.

“It is just a part and parcel of a sportsman’s life. You have good days and you have bad days on the pitch. It is just that Kohli has set such a benchmark that people forget he is only human and not a machine.

“You are bound to have off days and there is nothing wrong with it. People will ask if there is some technical issue or a mindset issue, but I will again say that it is a part of the game,” Rajkumar Sharma was quoted as saying by Business World.

He further went on to say how even the greatest fielder of all time Jonty Rhodes dropped catches in the past. Also, someone like Javed Miandad who was considered as a fielding great from Pakistan also spilled catches in the slip cordon. Which is why people should go overboard if Kohli has one bad day in many other good days.

“Firstly, as I said before, these things happen. Anybody can miss a catch or two. Even Jonty Rhodes missed a catch here and there. Javed Miandad was considered a great fielder and if you go back and look, he also did slip once or twice.

So, this has nothing to do with patience or the urge to set the tone after the resumption of cricket,” he added.
