Team India played their first-ever day-night Test match when they hosted Bangladesh in November last year at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata. A lot of hype was created leading to the game and it witnessed jam-packed stadium on each day of the Test.
Since Sourav Ganguly took over the as the President of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) he made sure India also try their hand at a day-night Test match. He made a grand arrangement inviting the stars of the game of the also many eminent personalities from both sides of the border.

The fans also turned out in massive numbers as the tickets were sold out much before the match started. Although it was a no-contest but the thrill of watching the favourite stars play under lights in whites saw many glued to their TV sets.
The historic tie was viewed by 43 million people and clocked 2 billion viewing minutes — which was also the highest viewership for the first day of any Test match played over 2018-19, the BARC has said.
Meanwhile, the match witnessed the hosts led by Virat Kohli dominate the proceedings and inflict another whitewash on the visiting team. The match got over within three days with India scripting a win by an innings and 46 runs and also extended their good run in the ICC World Cup Test Championship.

However, the dream run struck the reality when New Zealand halted their run beating the No. 1 Test team in the two-match series at home. Virat Kohli & Co will have a lot of work to do to come back strong in the red-ball cricket.
