The Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) has reacted harshly to the emotional status that Prithvi Shaw posted on social media following his exclusion from the Vijay Hazare Trophy. The MCA said that the 23-year-old batter violated standards of discipline in a consistent manner, which is why he was left out of the squad of 16 players.
Shaw had taken to social media to rant, saying he was ignored for selection even though he was a member of the Mumbai team that won the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. But the MCA has intimated that Shaw’s conduct and disciplinary record were the key factors that saw him excluded.
The actions of Shaw provoke unspecified sanctions of the MCA, and Shaw will have to improve discipline and manners to return to the Mumbai team. The future of this player with Mumbai cricket is uncertain.
Prithvi Shaw used to have nights out at SMAT- MCA Official
Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) officials are concerned about Prithvi Shaw behaving cranky. As per sources, Shaw was again found to have been skipping the team nets during the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy and was coming back to the team hotel as late as 6 am after partying. MCA has been very clear in its stance that Shaw’s tweets will have no bearing on the players selection.
“In the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, we were playing with 10 fielders as we were forced to hide Prithvi Shaw. The ball would pass near him and he would barely be able to get to it. No one is Shaw’s enemy. He is his own enemy,” the official revealed.
“Even the seniors in the team have started complaining about his attitude now,” the official added.
The event has once again brought into the fore the problems that plague Shaw to reach the notch he is capable of reaching. Some ‘‘experts’’ advise him to get in shape and present professionalism to get back into the team. Shaw’s behavior has led to doubts on whether he is fully committed to the sport, and the MCA seems to imply that he still lacks discipline, which is very important at this level.
