Indian cricketer Shreyas Iyer’s batting class was on display during the fifth T20I against West Indies on Sunday, August 7 at the Central Broward Regional Park Stadium Turf Ground in Lauderhill, Florida. He did not have great outings in the first three matches and was dropped for the fourth T20I. The youngster made a sparkling comeback to the team in the final match.

Indian team decided to rest senior players, including skipper Rohit Sharma for the fifth T20I. Shreyas Iyer got an opportunity to open the innings along with wicket-keeper batter Ishan Kishan. The duo got India off to a decent start, scoring 37 runs off the first four overs. Batting with positive intent, Shreyas took on the West Indies bowlers.

The right-handed batter slammed a consecutive sixes in the eighth over against Odean Smith, to accelerate the innings. He got to his fifty in just thirty deliveries in the tenth over. Rovman Powell bowled wide outside off stump delivery, Shreyas threw his bat at it and got it over the point fielder for a boundary to complete his fifty.

The 27-year-old got out in the thirteenth over by Jason Holder as he tried to slog across the line. He scored 64 runs off 40 deliveries, including eight boundaries and two sixes. Shreyas Iyer’s knock helped India to lay a strong foundation for the middle order to capitalize and put up a big score on the board. The fans were also impressed with the Indian batter’s performance.
