Ravichandran Ashwin Steers Dindigul Dragons to Success in TNPL 2024

Ravichandran Ashwin played a pivotal role for the Dindigul Dragons in the previous TNPL season. The former India cricketer ranked among the top five run-scorers, accumulating 252 runs in nine innings at an impressive strike rate of 151.80, including three half-centuries.

As an off-spinner, he also contributed with the ball, taking nine wickets in 10 matches at an economy rate of 6.92.  Ashwin announced his retirement from international cricket following the third Test in Brisbane during the 2024-25 Border-Gavaskar Trophy (BGT). However, he will continue to feature in league cricket.

The Chennai-born all-rounder is set to reunite with Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025. The five-time champions secured his services for ₹9.75 crore after an intense bidding war with Lucknow Super Giants (LSG), Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB), and Rajasthan Royals (RR).

Ashwin is the third-highest wicket-taker among spinners in IPL history, with 180 scalps—trailing only Yuzvendra Chahal (205) and Piyush Chawla (192), while being level with Sunil Narine. Additionally, he remains a valuable asset with the bat in the lower order.
