Ravichandran Ashwin is in the middle of a good IPL season in the UAE and this might see him make a return to the Indian ODI team as per reports. He has picked up four wickets in eight games so far in the IPL. His wickets include names like Chris Gayle, Jos Buttler, Steve Smith and Quinton de Kock.

Ashwin has tied down the opposition batsmen in the middle overs allowing other bowlers to reap the rewards from his spell. He has been key to Delhi’s success so far in the tournament and is likely to play a bigger role as the head into the playoffs.

R Ashwin Likely to Make ODI Comeback

Meanwhile, as per reports in The Telegraph, there have been discussions to bring in Ravichandran Ashwin to the ODI squad in Australia. Since a large squad will be sent to Australia keeping in mind the length of the tour and the BCCI safety protocols against COVID, there are talks of including Ashwin in the ODI set-up as well.

“Since a large contingent, comprising players of all three formats, will be departing from the UAE together, it would be prudent to try out Ashwin, at least in the ODIs. He has proven his credentials and I don’t think it’s fair to keep him out,” sources close to The Telegraph said.
