[WATCH] Rahul Dravid Consoles A Downcast Virat Kohli After His Early Dismissal In The IND vs ENG Match

Virat Kohli seemed dejected inside the dressing room after his early dismissal inside the 2024 T20 World Cup semifinal between India and England, held on the Providence Stadium in Guyana on Thursday, June 27. Kohli was dismissed by pacer Reece Topley for 9 runs off nine balls

Initially showing promise with a six and a double off Topley in the third over, Kohli was unable to build on his start. This was the first time he failed to score a fifty in a T20 World Cup semifinal.

A circulating video on X shows Kohli in a sombre mood, with India head coach Rahul Dravid offering him support. You can watch the clip below:

Kohli has struggled at some point of the 2024 T20 World Cup, scoring only seventy five runs in seven games. In his preceding match  in opposition to Australia, he was dismissed for a duck.

Rohit Sharma and Suryakumar Yadav stabilized India after early setbacks in the IND vs ENG 2024 T20 World Cup semifinal

Rohit Sharma, the captain of India, and Suryakumar Yadav have balanced innings after the early dismissals of Virat Kohli and Rishabh Pant within the semifinal. At 65/2 after eight overs, with Rohit (37 off 26) and Suryakumar (13 off seven) at the crease, rain interrupted play. Pant was the last to fall, caught by Jonny Bairstow at mid-wicket off Sam Curran for four runs from six balls.

Rohit Sharma and his team aim to maintain their unbeaten run in the ICC event and seek to avenge their 10-wicket defeat to England in the 2022 T20 World Cup semifinal in Adelaide.

Meanwhile, Jos Buttler’s side has misplaced to Australia and South Africa on this edition but ensured second spot within the Super-Eight level to reach the semi-final. The defending champions are eager to reach consecutive finals and pursue their third tournament title.

If rain forces the match to be abandoned, India will qualify, having topped the Super-Eight Group 1 points table, while England finished second behind South Africa in Group 2.
