Team India head coach Rahul Dravid was heard giving a fiery speech after the Men in Blues snatched a thrilling win in the 2nd ODI against Sri Lanka at the R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo. As a result, the visitors have sealed the series with one match to follow.
India were almost out of the game struggling at 193/7 with Deepak Chahar and Bhuvneshwar Kumar in the middle. Chahar produced one of the best knocks of his career to take India home on Tuesday night.
Chahar was unbeaten on 69 runs and added a 84-run stand with Bhuvneshwar Kumar to steal a three-wicket win with five balls to spare. Rahul Dravid, who has been handed over the duties for this tour, looked ecstatic and was jumping with joy.
In a video shared by the Indian Cricket Team on Instagram, the former skipper was heard giving a fiery speech to the cricketers inside the dressing room. He said:
“They responded, and we responded back like a champion team with our backs to the wall and found a way to win. Really well done to all of you. Fantastic win!”
“This is the kind of innings I’ve been dreaming of” – Deepak Chahar
Speaking at the end of the game, Deepak Chahar admitted that there was no better way to win a match for your country. He also thanked Rahul Dravid for believing in his abilities with the bat.
“Only one thing that was going on in my mind: this is the kind of innings I’ve been dreaming of. No better way to win the match for the country. Rahul sir told me to play all the balls. I’ve played a few innings with India A and I think he has belief in me. He told me he thinks I’m good enough to be a No. 7,” Deepak Chahar said.
