Rajasthan Cricket Association Ban Revoked By BCCI; Afghanistan will Play Test Match In India

In the Special General Meeting of BCCI conducted on December 11, 2017, BCCI has proposed to give in to players” demands by reducing the number of playing days. Virat Kohli had earlier complained about too much workload and lack of rest.

During the period between 2019-2023, the cricketing calendar of India will be of 306 playing days (2021 Champions Trophy and 2023 World Cup excluded). It has been brought down from 390 days.

Sources told Cricketnext that a lot of matches will be played against South Africa, Australia, England and New Zealand. After 2016-17 grand home season which consisted 13 tests, focus now will be on limited over formats. It is expected that India will host 81 home games between 2019-2023.

India is also scheduled to play a test match against Afghanistan (Afghanistan”s first ever test match) on home soil within next 2 years. The venue and the date haven”t been announced yet.

The Board of Cricket Control in India (BCCI) has revoked the ban on Rajasthan Cricket Association provided that Lalit Modi is not involved in activities of RCA.

“Cricket should not suffer. General body has agreed to revoke ban with certain conditions. Dealing with misconduct of the past, Lalit Modi should not be indirectly involved in RCA or affiliated bodies,” BCCI”s acting secretary Amitabh Choudhary said in a press conference after the meeting.

On April 24, 2010, Modi was suspended by BCCI on 22 charges, including bypassing the governing council while taking decisions, not following proper processes, big, awarding contracts to his friends, accepting kickbacks on a broadcast deal, selling franchises to members of his family, betting and money laundering. In 2013, a BCCI committee found Modi guilty on 8 charges. Modi was expelled from BCCI.

On May 6, 2014, Lalit Modi was re-elected as the President of Rajasthan Cricket Association (RCA). Immediately after his election, the BCCI banned the RCA and elected an ad-hoc body to carry administrative functions.
