Rajasthan Royals (RR) are suffering from match-fixing before their great loss to Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in Match 36 of the Indian Premier League 2025 (IPL 2025). It delivered a crushing defeat to Sanju Samson’s team after they could only muster nine runs for victory from the last over, but lost by two runs as Avesh Khan delivered a stunning display of death bowling.

Jaideep Bihani, Rajasthan Cricket Association (RCA) ad hoc committee convener, has raised questions about the loss that the team had to endure, considering their twisted past in the IPL. In 2013, some RR players were reported to be a part of spot-fixing, while the franchise owner, Raj Kundra, was said to be involved in betting, which brought a two-season ban on the team in the years 2016 and 2017. Bihani was very concerned about the home ground loss by the team, which demanded an investigation.

Bihani urged the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and the rest of the agencies to scan through matters like this. He also alleged that the RCA has been avoiding IPL matches under absolutely baseless pretexts. The stigma attached to the losing run of RR has created suspicion, which might necessitate doing an investigation into the events to clear the air and rejuvenate faith in the team and the league.

Rajasthan Royals Break Silence on Match-fixing

In the last few days, the confrontation between Rajasthan Royals (RR) and Rajasthan Cricket Association (RCA) has escalated following doubts cast over RR’s recent IPL 2025 match lost against Lucknow Super Giants by RCA ad-hoc committee convener Jaydeep Bihani, hinting at possible tampering. In response, the RR management lodged a formal complaint with the Chief Minister, Sports Minister, and Sports Secretary, requesting that strict action be taken against Bihani.

The RR management strongly condemned the claims laid by Bihani, saying that they were “false, baseless, and without an iota of evidence.” They rejected the allegations of misconduct, emphasizing their partnership with the state association and government for the past 18 years. The RR stated that they are working in conjunction with the Rajasthan Sports Council and BCCI, aiding the tournament being conducted smoothly.

At the same time, Jaydeep Bihani accused the Rajasthan Sports Council of maliciously working against the interests of sports by keeping the RCA’s ad hoc committee out of IPL-related activities. The countering Rajasthan Royals have said they are working in full compliance with BCCI guidelines and in conjunction with the Sports Council. The dispute has raised eyebrows, with both sides hurling accusations at one another in self-defense. The situation continues to remain tense, raising a question mark over the reputation of the team and the integrity of IPL.
