In a high-scoring encounter at the Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium in Mullanpur, Rajasthan Royals (RR) successfully chased down a formidable target to defeat Punjab Kings (PBKS) by six wickets.

This victory was particularly significant as it ended the unbeaten streak of the Punjab Kings in the IPL 2026 season. Rajasthan Royals captain Riyan Parag won the toss and elected to field first, a decision that initially seemed risky given the batting-friendly conditions of the New Chandigarh track.

The Punjab Kings innings was characterized by explosive starts and a sensational finish. Openers Prabhsimran Singh and Priyansh Arya set a blistering pace, with Arya contributing a rapid 29 off 11 balls.Prabhsimran Singh continued his fine form, anchoring the top order with 59 runs off 44 deliveries.

However, the true momentum shift occurred in the death overs. Marcus Stoinis unleashed a brutal assault, remaining unbeaten with a magnificent 62 off just 22 balls*, striking at an incredible rate of 281.82.

His late-innings cameo, which included 24 runs off the final over, propelled PBKS to a massive total of 222/4 in their 20 overs. For the Royals, Yash Raj Punja was the pick of the bowlers, claiming 2/41.

Despite Yuzvendra Chahal striking back for Punjab with 3/36, the Royals’ middle order remained unfazed. Donovan Ferreira took charge of the chase, smashing an unbeaten 52 off 26 balls*.

Supported by Shubham Dubey, who scored a quick 31 off 12 balls*, Ferreira guided the team home with four balls to spare, finishing the match with a six to reach a total of 228/4. Ferreira was rightfully named the Player of the Match for his match-winning performance.
