Pakistan Cricket Team fast bowler Mohammad Amir has called time on his prestigious international career on December 17 (Thursday). The left-arm pacer, who bursts onto the scene in a T20I game against England in June 2009, participated in 147 international matches in which he scalped 259 wickets. Meanwhile, former Pakistan skipper Ramiz Raja has shared his opinion on Amir’s premature retirement. Amir said that he was tired of playing under the management which is why he decided to retire from the game.

Ramiz Raja took to Twitter to share his opinion on Amir’s retirement. He was of the view that it’s a sad happening in Pakistan cricket and adviced young budding cricketers to understand from Amir’s incident. He said that wealth should not be misunderstood for respect.

“Mohammad Amir retires. Sad untimely exit of a potential super star! And a lesson for aspiring youth: Respect your talent and understand your responsibilities. Don’t mistake wealth for respect. Respect is earned by having a strong character and not by worldly glitzy shit,” Raja wrote on Twitter.

Mohammed Amir’s International Career

Amir made his international debut for Pakistan in July 2009. He announced his arrival in style with a string of impressive performances and was part of the Pakistan side which won the 2009 T20 World Cup. However once he was banned for match-fixing in 2010 for five years, his career took a downward slide.

Amir made a comeback in the Pakistan squad for the 2019 World Cup in England. He took 17 wickets in just eight games as his team did not make the semifinals. However, he played a big role in Pakistan’s Champions Trophy victory in 2017. He made a comeback in 2015.
