The second wave of the COVID-19 has battered India. The daily count of positive cases are ticking over 3.5 lakh, and the death count has also surged over the past few weeks. India has noted cases over four lakhs three times in the past week. The country is also facing a shortage of oxygen, beds and medical facilities. Amidst the crisis, many celebrities have come forward to help the commoners. Some celebrities have donated to various funds, while some have directly helped the people out.
Recently, India’s veteran spinner Ravichandran Ashwin promised a Twitter user that would buy N95 masks for needy people. A Twitter user wrote: “A single N95 mask starts from 70rs, A normal surgical mask costs 10rs which we can’t and shouldn’t use for more than 8 hours. People who suffer to get food, people who have low income, how can they afford this? Solution?”

“N 95 masks can be washed and reused. I am happy to buy and give it to people who can’t afford it! Please let me know ways to distribute them if you or anyone on my timeline knows how,” the senior spinner replied to the tweet.
I urge everyone going to get their vaccine shot to keep a safe distance from one another and double mask. ( no cloth masks pls) . The very point of getting a vaccine is to fight this deadly virus, let’s not make that hopeful idea into a cluster. #COVID19India

Vaccination, wearing masks, and social distancing are the ways to combat the communicable virus.
A week ago, Ashwin’s family tested positive for the virus. Ravichandran Ashwin left the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021 bio-bubble to attend to his family. He took an indefinite break from the IPL 2021. However, the tournament got suspended after several cases were noted inside the bubble.
Earlier today, Anushka Sharma and Virat Kohli announced to donate Rs 2 crore. The Royal Challengers Bangalore skipper took the initiative immediately after reaching home in the wake of IPL 2021 being called off due to a surge in COVID19 cases in the country.
“As our country battles the second wave of Covid-19, and our healthcare systems are facing extreme challenges, it breaks my heart to see our people suffering. So, Virat and I have initiated a campaign #InThisTogether, with Ketto, to raise funds for Covid-19 relief,” Sharma wrote on Instagram.
