Ravichandran Ashwin was a man on a mission with the bat on the final day of the SCG Test match. The Australians especially their captain Tim Paine tried to disturb Ashwin by saying rubbish from behind the wicket. However, Ashwin was not going to let Paine run his mouth non-stop and decided to give him back a dose of his own medicine.
Ashwin is just that kind of cricket who raises his game when the opposition tries to sledge him and get under his skins. When Paine saw that the Aussie bowlers are tiring he decided to play the sledging card and tried giving a mouthful to Ashwin. The Aussie captain was trying to intimidate Ashwin at the crease but in return, he got a fitting reply that stunned him for the remaining part of the match.
When Ashwin was batting against spinner Nathan Lyon, Pain murmured he can’t to see Ashwin bat at Gabba in Brisbane. The Gabba pitch is now considered the fastest in Australia where run making is not all easy for sub-continent batsmen. Ashwin could have kept quiet to this but didn’t as he told Paine that he can’t wait to have him in India as it will surely be his last series.

Paine: Can’t wait to get you to the Gabba, Ash
Ashwin: Can’t wait to get you to India, it’ll be your last series
Paine: At least my teammates like me

Meanwhile, this conversation surely got into the head of Paine as he looked clueless behind the stumps post the argument with Ashwin. He dropped an important catch of Hanuma Vihari when 10 overs were still remaining on day 5.

On the other hand, Ravichandran Ashwin put his head down and just batted and batted. The Indian spinner once again proved that he is no mug with the bat as he stood tall after coming to bat at number 7 ahead of Jadeja. Ashwin scored 39 balls but more importantly consumed 128 as India made a statement and drew the Test match.
