“Boundaries Are Close To The 30-Yard Circle” – Ravichandran Ashwin On Indian bowlers’ Expensive Spells

Veteran Indian spinner Ravichandran Ashwin has backed his team’s bowlers on conceding runs in recent bilateral series. They recently defeated South Africa 2-1 in a three-match T20I series and are currently taking part in the three-match ODI series as well. In the 20-over games, the Indian bowlers gave away plenty of runs, although their batting was top-notch throughout the series as well.

However, Ashwin said that boundaries in India aren’t very big and bowlers are always under the pump on those grounds as well. But he believed that the situation in Australia during the mega event – T20 World Cup 2022 won’t be the same also.

Ravichandran Ashwin also shared his views after India beat Western Australia by 13 runs in a warm-up match before the T20 World Cup at W.A.C.A in Perth.

“We can get caught up in what happens in T20 games and bilateral series back home. It’s only fair to say that the bowlers are getting hit around the park. But we also need to understand that the boundaries are close to the 30-yard circle in India and when we come to Australia, the boundaries are far bigger, a bit of license for the bowlers to work with,” Ashwin was quoted as saying.

“It’s also very important to understand these conditions, the lengths you have to bowl and be brave enough to take those 50-50 options in these places,” he added.

Shardul Thakur also backed India’s bowlers

Earlier, the India all-rounder Shardul Thakur, who is a part of India’s bilateral ODIs against the South Africa team, also backed the Indian bowlers. He also said that even the South African bowlers were being taken for runs in tough conditions during the games which have taken place so far.

Notably, the three-match ODI series is currently at 1-1 with the third and final match taking place at Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi on Tuesday, October 11.
