And as the situation worsens, the veteran off-spinner from Tamil Nadu has decided to take a break from IPL 2021. Ashwin said that he will return to action when things get normal and also thanked Delhi Capitals for accepting his request. So far, Ravichandran Ashwin has played five matches and has managed to pick only one wicket.

“I would be taking a break from this years IPL from tomorrow. My family and extended family are putting up a fight against #COVID19 and I want to support them during these tough times. I expect to return to play if things go in the right direction. Thank you @DelhiCapitals,” Ravichandran Ashwin wrote on Twitter.

Meanwhile, Delhi Capitals finished their Chennai leg of IPL 2021 with a victory over Sunrisers Hyderabad. The match ended in a tie before skipper Rishabh Pant won it for his side in the Super Over. Kane Williamson single-handedly powered Hyderabad to take the game deep for debutant Jagdeeshan Suchit struck a boundary and a six to level the scores.

However, Hyderabad’s decision to not send Jonny Bairstow in the Super Over backfired as they could only muster six runs off Axar Patel’s over. Rishabh Pant took the onus on himself to win it for his side and finish the Chennai leg with a victory. They now move to Ahmedabad for their next set of games.
