Veteran Delhi Capitals spinner Ravichandran Ashwin walked out of the field after copping a severe blow on his shoulder while fielding off his own bowling. Meanwhile, Ashwin made immediate impact picking two wickets after Shreyas Iyer brought him into action.
Chasing a moderate total, Kings XI Punjab got off to flying start with skipper KL Rahul playing a few shots. But once Mohit Sharma got the Punjab skipper, it was one-way traffic for Delhi Capitals. Ashwin soon made the ball talk removing Karun Nair and Nicholas Pooran in quick succession to push Punjab on the backfoot.
Ravichandran Ashwin suffers a shoulder injury
However, soon after that Delhi Capitals received a massive blow as Ravichandran Ashwin suffered an injury. The incident took place in the sixth over of the match. Glenn Maxwell pushed one passed the bowler to collect a single. Ashwin landed badly as he looked to stop the ball and seems to copped an injury. It looked bad right from the onset.

The physio had to help Ravichandran Ashwin come out of the field as he looked in extreme pain. As per reports, Ashwin has dislocated his shoulder and Delhi will certainly not be happy with the development. The Capitals wouldn’t like the look of this – Ashwin is their premium spinner and they don’t really have a ready-made replacement for the starlet.

Meanwhile, Delhi Capitals continued their good work even after Ashwin’s departure as they reduced Kings XI Punjab to 55 for 5. It will now require and herculean effort from Punjab to chase down a target of 158 set by Delhi.
Earlier in the day, Mohammed Shami bowled a spell of 3 for 15 to peg back Delhi Capitals. However, courtesy Iyer and Pant’s 50-run stand, Delhi tried to pull back things but Punjab struck again to break the backbone. However, Marcus Stoinis’ blitz at the end helped Delhi Capitals finish on a par total. He remained unbeaten on 53 from 21 balls including seven fours and three sixes to put his side on the hot spot.
