Ravindra Jadeja added another feather to his cap by dismissing England Test captain Ben Stokes during the second session of Day 3 in the third Test match of the five-game series at Niranjana Shah Stadium. Stokes, with a score of 41, fell victim to Jadeja’s prowess, marking Jadeja as the fifth Indian bowler to achieve 200 Test wickets on home soil, joining the ranks of Anil Kumble, Ravichandran Ashwin, Harbhajan Singh, and Kapil Dev.

In the ongoing Rajkot Test, Jadeja’s left-arm spin proved effective not only against Stokes but also against Tom Hartley, securing two wickets in his 10 overs, albeit conceding 51 runs. Previously, Jadeja showcased his batting skills, becoming only the third Indian player to surpass 3000 runs and 250 wickets in Test cricket.

Jadeja’s monumental achievement came amidst the Rajkot Test against England, where he delighted the home crowd with a crucial century, scoring 112 runs. While Kapil Dev leads the illustrious list with 5,248 runs and 434 wickets in 131 matches, Ashwin boasts 3,271 runs and 500 wickets in 98 matches.

With 3003 runs and 280 wickets in 70 matches, Jadeja’s all-round excellence has been pivotal for India. In the Rajkot Test, India bowled out England for 319 runs, seizing a 124-run lead on Day 3. Apart from Ben Duckett’s impressive 153 runs, no other batsman capitalized on their starts.

Among the Indian bowlers, Mohammad Siraj emerged as the standout performer, claiming four wickets in 21.1 overs while conceding 24 runs. Alongside Jadeja, spinner Kuldeep Yadav contributed with two wickets in his 18 overs, conceding 77 runs. Additionally, Jasprit Bumrah and Ravichandran Ashwin each chipped in with a wicket in their respective spells.
