Ravindra Jadeja made history by taking his 300th Test wicket during the ongoing match between India and Bangladesh at Green Park, Kanpur, on Day 4 (Monday, September 30). The left-arm spinner achieved this milestone by dismissing Khaled Ahmed with a caught and bowled. This wicket contributed to India bowling out Bangladesh for 233 runs in the first innings.
Jadeja is now the second-fastest to achieve this milestone, following his teammate Ravichandran Ashwin. Jadeja reached 300 wickets after 17,428 deliveries, while Ashwin took 15,636.

“Both these all-rounders have been magnificent over the years” –Sunil Gavaskar praises Ravindra Jadeja and Ravichandran Ashwin
Former India captain Sunil Gavaskar recently praised Ravindra Jadeja and Ravichandran Ashwin for their impact on Indian Test cricket. His comments followed Jadeja and Ashwin’s 199-run partnership for the seventh wicket against Bangladesh, which helped India recover from 144/6 in the first innings of the opening Test in Chennai.
Gavaskar shared his thoughts in his Mid-Day column:
“In the first Test of the current two-test match series, the way the two Ravi Ashwin and Jadeja brought the team back in the game showed this team is never done and can get back even if the referee has reached the count of eight. Both these all-rounders have been magnificent over the years and rescued and then won several games for India.”
Jadeja notably scored 86 runs and took five wickets in the first Test, while Ashwin contributed 113 runs and claimed six wickets. India won the match by 280 runs, taking a 1-0 lead in the series.
